Hi My Name is Rod Selner thus the SirRod. I’m 55 and live in Ruskin, Fl. on the little Manatee River. In 1985 I saw a piece on Ch 40 about Island Adventure Paintball, in Palmetto, Fl. Started playing in the summer of 1985, at Island Adventure Paintball on Sneed’s Island. Where I met Andy Van Der Platts of Team Dorsi from FT. Myers Fl. I played with a splat master a few times, and said to myself that I had to get a better marker.
I saw an ad in the very first Paintball Magazine, (which I still have) Action Pursuit Games, for "The Command Post" in Northern Fl. and ordered my first marker a Constant Air PMI, it didn't have gravity feed just a horizontal feed tube. Well I sent it off to "Gramps and Grizzly" In California, and had them put on a "Gravity Feed" Gramps told me about a thing called an "Auto Trigger" he said it made the pump marker shoot faster well I had to have one of those too.
Gramps told me that no one on the East Coast of the U.S. had every ordered one; they were the inventors, so I was the very first Paintballer on the East Coast of the U.S. to have an "Auto Trigger" on my pump.
At that time I was known as Ramrod, and I was the terror of the paintball scene around central Fl.
Later I changed my handle to SirRodney after the "Wizard of ID", and later shortened to SirRod.
Attended the very first 24hr Scenario paintball game's at Wayne Dollack's old field called "The Survival Zone" in Ocala Fl. with my friends from Team Crossfire, Been playing Woods and Scenarios ever since.
Team Crossfire became, The Cotton Mouths and later changed our name to Team Firestorm.
As Firestorm we won the 1993 and 94 10man State Championships. We are the only team to win back to back in the State of Florida.
In 93 we attended the International Masters Invitational Tournament Produced by Jim Lively, at The Hermitage in Nashville, Tenn. we won 3rd place in the Amature division. I continued to attend 24hr games at "The Survival Zone" for many years and became good friends with Wayne, Doc, Lenney, Bill Mills of the web sight “WarPig” and Diane Howe who later established MXS and became MOTHER.
I was the only one with a Pop UP Star Craft Camper, and the Envy of everyone at the Survival Zone camping. In the early 90's a friend and I ran several 24 hr Scenario Games at Jungle Games in Tampa, called “Back to Bagdad” Which we Wrote, Produced and Directed. We even had an Article in APG about our Scenario Games, Written by "Hollywood" not well known at that time, but has fielded many articles in APG and other paintball magazines since. In 2004 I was the Chronic field Chrono Ref for the NPPL Tampa Tournament, at Tampa Stadium. On Sunday I was invited to be the Chrono Ref at the main NPPL field for the finals where Justus and Dynasty playing with Justus winning...It was truly an honor to meet and work with these Tournament teams.
I have been playing at MXS's events at Camp Blanding wow 1206 players last Feb 2007. I played the Viper FEAR Scenario at Camp Blanding in May 2007. Was at BBB in Dec. O7, Billy and staff put on a great game. I missed MXS's last game at Blanding, I'm sorry to say, Mother we will miss you.
I shoot a Black Cell Ion, with HPA and a Smart Parts Freak system, my back up is my good old 01 Impulse upgraded with a vert. LPR and vision blue eye cricket board, and a New Design low rise feed neck.
I also have a WGP O3 Sniper II, and a Tippmann A-5, Pro Am, and a 68 special which is very rare no serial numbers one of the very first made.
This history will be evolving over time so come back and read more.
Thanks SirRod
